ABOUT ABOUT

LG tags: Short Film, Workshop, Family, Food, Education, Dialogue

In an effort to help you know what to expect from each festival event and to decide which events you’ll most enjoy, we’ve created a Level Ground tagging system.

Mental health and well-being – including risk for suicide, substance abuse and HIV, and positive outcomes such as self-esteem – are directly linked to behaviors that parents and caregivers use to express acceptance and rejection of their children’s LGBT identity.

This meal is specifically for families with LGBT members who want to learn together and have a space to talk about how faith, gender, and sexuality are impacting familial relationships. It is for families wanting to decrease family rejection and increase support for their LGBT child, for families wanting to reduce family conflict related to topics of faith, gender, and sexuality, and for families who want general guidance on how to help LGBT family members.

The evening will also include a presentation from Caitlin Ryan of the Family Acceptance Project and a short film screening. We ask that two or more family members sign up together to experience this uniquely special evening of delicious food, curated space, and facilitated dialogue.
